INDUSTRIAL TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS
Traffic accidents are prevalent in industrial sites. Managing truck and train flow is required for a smooth and safe operation. ELTEC has designed and installed systems that control/manage traffic entering restricted areas. Every industrial site has its own hazardous complexities, so the methods of solving the safety issues are individually designed.
APPLICATIONS
- Waste Management Sites
- Industrial Train Crossings
- Loading Dock Access
The system is designed to operate 24 hours per day, or it can use a programmable time clock if some other period of operation is desired. During the working hours, LED activation is determined by each site’s traffic pattern. Some activation is manually controlled while some LED’s are triggered automatically. Various control methods are:
- Motion sensors
- Presence detectors
- Console mounted transmitter
- Hand held transmitter
Sensor activated systems are ideal for restricted lane control, work zones and similar applications. In cases where vehicle admission is irregular, usually a hand held or dash mounted radio transmitter is best.
Again, each system is unique and is designed to match the specific need. Here’s an example of a manually controlled system. By default the red LED is on. When the individual controlling access desires to allow vehicle(s) into the restricted area, the person uses the transmitter to send a signal to the pole mounted system. This causes the red LED to go OFF and the green LED to turn ON. Additionally, a light is positioned on the opposite side of the pole so the operator knows if the light is green or red. A latching circuit inside the cabinet keeps the green light ON until another signal is received from the operator. The radio can be coded so that multiple systems can be operating in the same area without interfering with one another.
FEATURES/OPTIONS
Other considerations can be added such as emergency warnings for an imminent accident, environmental hazard or other analogous situations. The warning system can be a horn, bell or similar device. The emergency warning system would use a separate radio control; the interaction of the standard system would not trigger an emergency warning.
For a loading dock, ELTEC used a loud horn to alert dozing drivers to the fact that the light had changed to green and they could proceed to the dock.
The system can be mounted on a trailer for mobility from location to location as the area of operation moves.

When AC power is not practical, DC solar power is the solution. All ELTEC’s industrial traffic systems are sized by a sophisticated computer program guaranteeing sufficient power. It considers:
- Power generated by the solar panels at the installation latitude
- Power consumed by the load; guaranteeing sufficient power
- Geographical location: accounts for number of sunny & cloudy days in the area
- System is correctly sized: never oversized or undersized
ELTEC’s DC solar system benefits:
- Self Contained
- No Power Interruption
- No Trenching or Boring Cable
- No Electrical Bills
- Electrical Contractors/Technicians Not Required for Installation
- High Efficiency Self Cleaning Solar Modules with 20 year warranty
- Controller with LCD Display Showing Battery Voltage, Solar Array, Output and Load Current
- Sealed Gel or AGM Sealed Deep Cycle Batteries: 5 Year Pro-rated Warranty
- Sized by Computer Program: Insures Power Generated meets/exceeds Load Requirements
