WORK ZONE: SAFETY AND WARNING SYSTEMS
Highway Work Zones are some of the most dangerous traffic areas for both drivers and construction personnel. Managing the speed of traffic is essential for the crew’s safety.
Work Zones are designed to alert motorist that workers are present or hazardous conditions exist in a construction area and a slower speed is required.
Each system provided by ELTEC is built for the specific situation determined by you, the end-user. The traffic pole & base can be trailer mounted for portability. If the shoulder is too narrow or steep for a trailer or a more permanent system is required for a long term project, it can be pad mounted.
There are several ways to display and alert drivers to the lower speed limit.
- Speed limit sign supplemented with flashing beacons
- Radar speed sign with posted speed limit alerting driver of excessive speed
- Lighted speed sign
Other items for considerations on how it will be activated:
- Time clock See NTC-17E programmable time clock
- Manual ON/OFF switch managed by on-site personnel
- Radio controlled: handheld device or activated from vehicle
An ELTEC Work/Construction Zone System may be AC or DC solar powered. All ELTEC’s solar systems are sized by a sophisticated computer program which considers the power consumed by the load; the power generated for the soar panels; and the geographical location where the system will be used. Our sizing analysis guarantees sufficient power for the predetermined load(s).
